International Symposium : Praxis and Context of Contemporary Art, July 12-13, 2013, Fórum Eugénio de Almeida Auditorium, Évora (Portugal)
At this first symposium organized by Fórum Eugénio de Almeida, experts as well as national and international artists from different domains of contemporary art will analyze the current artistic practices and the new roles of the different agents involved in the creative and operative dynamics of art and culture today.
Against an increasingly complex global background, there is a growing need to rethink and identify new networks that link the different sectors and professionals in the art world. Six main topics, branching out of this central point, will be addressed at presentations and round table discussions: curator and exhibition circuits; art market strategies; the premise for criticism; dissemination and communication; potential of individual initiatives and proposals; local strategies; and the role of culture in the context of cities.
A special session for portfolio presentation, dedicated to young Luso-Spanish designers, will promote the dialogue between emerging artists and recognized national and international professionals from the different cultural circles.
The event is integrated in the Conviver na Arte project | Cross-Border Network of Young Artists, as part of the program of activities organized to mark the inauguration of Fórum Eugénio de Almeida.
The conference will have simultaneous translation Portuguese-English-Portuguese.
The special session of 13th july is limited to selected artists and special guests. The session will have simultaneous Portuguese-Spanish-Portuguese translation.
